Re: Soo uhh.. how about those elections?
Watch the watermelon rinds start flying out the window of the White House...
Anyways, I voted for myself. Wasn't sold on Obama and I sure as fuck wasn't going to vote for McCain. A while back ago him and Bush wanted to grant the illegals amnesty in a pathetic attempt to pander to this mythical Hispanic vote the Republicans keep counting on. So yeah, fuck McCain.
Between the two of them, honestly, I think I'm glad Obama won. The Republican party has been nothing short of lackluster for the past eight years and I'm ready for someone else. I think Obama is going to be a little more moderate than some people on the right think he will be, which is good.

Re: Soo uhh.. how about those elections?
Im upset that the words "idiot" and "insane" are to be amended for the constitution. I voted for against.
I also voted for someone f/ the Socialist Party over Boswell that fat old fuck....and for a Green Party Member over that Black panther AKO bastard.

Re: Soo uhh.. how about those elections?
I voted against that too. I guess it's probably the only thing I really felt strongly about in the election. I wrote in names for virtually everything, except voting against Harkin and Boswell.Beaver wrote:Im upset that the words "idiot" and "insane" are to be amended for the constitution. Re: Soo uhh.. how about those elections?
All my votes were write in except for the one senate race that had a Socialist Party candidate. I don't like Socialists, but at least this guy admits he's one.
Some of them I just wrote in "none of the above"
For President I wrote in Ron Paul with Tommy Chong as VP, Johnny Reeferseed for Polk County Sheriff, and El Rhino as Soil and Conservation Commissioner. I voted "no' on the Idiot Amendment. I also vote no for all the judges just to be a dick.

Nice. Next election I should wage a write-in campaign for this position.
Ryan Lewellin for Soil and Conservation Commissioner: Blood and Soil.
I actually wrote in Barack Obama and John McCain for that position. I believe you could pick four.

Re: Soo uhh.. how about those elections?
I'm happy with the outcome. I'm hoping this is the last we here of Sarah Painintheass. I'm really thinking that the lower 48 need to take a close look at what is going on up there. First off the fed gives everyone money every year just to live there, then there is the kick backs from the oil companies they all get, not having a state income tax or sales tax and they are voting for a convicted felon Ted Stevens for senate. I think we all need to take a long look at this place.
The thing that I'm most excited about is the huge voter turn out. It's been guessed at being the highest % since woman got the right to vote in 1920.
The other thing is that it maybe the end of the conservative religious right's power. Though they tried to throw off the vote with their message of usual gay rights, abortion and etc... It doesn't seem like it was effective at all. This is great news for this country. Cause this is the power base that brought us Reagan, Bush and then Bush again.
I have to say that I was happy to see that race made no difference. America seems to have voted for who they felt the best man was or against the Republicans.
I have felt he was the right man for the job for a while. Now let's see if he can get anything done or will he be bogged down like Clinton was from the start. Wall Street seems to be shaking in their boots at the idea that there is a reformer in office. Only time well tell.

Re: Soo uhh.. how about those elections?
went to get the paper today and found this front page on the Des Moines Register, as well as the USA Today next to it:
an excerpt from the phony front page reads, "2008 marks the 56th consecutive victory in the presidential elections for capitalism, which has successfully weathered crises ranging from the abolition of slavery to the Great Depression and the Summer of Love over the course of its 219-year administration."
i went to a few more and it appeared that all of the newstands had these front pages.
in a google search, apparently an Anarchist group in North Carolina claimed responsibility in an email sent to corporate news outlets, which reads:

Early this morning, many thousands of corporate newspapers in over 20 cities across the United States, including Chapel Hill and Carrboro, were given more accurate front pages. That one wealthy politician will replace another is not not news worthy. Capitalism has always won at the polls, and it always will. McCain and Obama's support for the financial bailout proved this, and ensured that any vote would be a vote for Wall St. The real stories worth telling are those of resistance and struggle, any instance where oppressed people attempt to realize dignity, autonomy and equality in their daily lives.

Re: Soo uhh.. how about those elections?
wow. that took 11 YEARS?? i dislike the changing of definitions. The proposed amendment to the Iowa Constitution regarding voting limitations for mentally incompetent Iowans finally makes it onto the ballot 11 years after Rep. Pam Jochum, D-Dubuque, and former Rep. Betty Grundberg wrote the proposal.
The proposed amendment affects Article II §5 ("Disqualified Persons"), which currently reads: "No idiot, or insane person, or person convicted of any infamous crime, shall be entitled to the privilege of an elector." Iowans are asked to vote on whether to strike "idiot" and "insane person" from §5; in place of the outdated and offensive terminology, "mentally incompetent" will be inserted into the Constitution

Marijuana wins 9 out of 10!!!
2008 Ballot Initiatives
On November 4, 2008, MPP and our allies across the country passed nine out of 10 marijuana-related ballot initiatives ... and also defeated a bad initiative.
Massachusetts Question 2: Remove the threat of arrest or jail for possessing an ounce or less of marijuana, replacing it with a $100 fine, which could be paid through the mail without lawyers or court appearances, just like a speeding ticket. MPP's campaign committee, Committee for Sensible Marijuana Policy Yes WIN

Michigan Proposal 1: Permit terminally and seriously ill patients to use medical marijuana with their doctors' approval. MPP's campaign committee, Michigan Coalition for Compassionate Care Yes WIN

Berkeley, California Measure JJ: Expand the non-residential zones where dispensaries can locate, create an oversight commission to create standards and determine whether relocating or future operators are in compliance, issue zoning certificates, and bring Berkeley marijuana possession limits in line with recent court rulings determining that such limits are unconstitutional in the state. I think this establishes a precedent which can be used to present/justify legislation nationwide. I look past the supposed minimal effect this will have in California, instead seeing the overall effect this could have.DaVo wrote:I saw little on this last night. Is it really going to be effective?
