I've seen a bunch of other posts about new Des Moines bands, so I figured I'd talk about Blue, this new thing I'm doing with some other dudes in Altoona.

We're an instrumental band drawing influence from mostly other instrumental bands and some metal stuff. We're working on writing songs right now, so we'll start playing shows in November.

No shit, hasn't The Blue Band been around like 25 years? I think I saw the anniversary show on PBS over the summer. Fraudin' goin' on.

There are/were a million bands called "Blue", including a British boy band that went platinum. There was no intent for originality. The name fits, and there's no real intent to battle for copyright, so I don't think there's a problem. To answer your question, though, we're not playing Clive after 5 next year.
