Re: Would you support a new Venue
someone buy the old Lost Souls building, sound proof it (get rid of those big old windows), then i will walk to shows there a lot. There's been tools sitting in it for 4 four years in the exact same spot on a saw horse table.

this pic is old, someone started trying to fix it up, but like i said, stopped halfway through and made it look worse.
Re: Would you support a new Venue
Wasn't there a coffee shop there years ago that had shows for a while until the neighborhood shut them down?
If I remember correctly Scott and the guys from Shilo Church did shows there for a while. The nieghborhood association complained to the point where they city shut them down and re-zoned it. I want to say that you can only have something there that is retail, no live music and no alcohol or food sales.

I paid my dues but I lost my Receipt.

i checked out the zoning on the assessors website, it's zoned for business. I don't know how much more detailed zoning gets. It's gone down $20,000 in 2 years. That church serves beer during their greek fest. This would be a good place for a Ritual Cafe 2.storkus wrote:Ladd and I once talked about opening a bar there, but it supposedly has issues with liquor licensing being as it's across from a church. Puritan horseshit.
Re: Would you support a new Venue
bars need a nice jukebox.
otherwise i dont really want to hang out there.
there is this bar in waterloo called the lava lounge it has an awesome jukebox
and its FREE.
also triple rock has an awesome jukebox.
if you open a bar do everything the triple rock did.
place is the best bar to ever exist.
great food. great shows. great sound. great layout. stiffest drinks ever. great jukebox. = great people + great place

The Triple Rock is cool, but the neighborhood around it looks like the set for Black Hawk Down.

It's actually in a pretty cool neighborhood.
but yeah. you can't have a talk about Minneapolis without a Somalian joke or two.

All that's missin' is the retired band teacher with the self-inflicted gunshot wound!

Hey, considering the general quality of venues around the midwest and the ability to support them, the VM ain't that bad.
Probably a baaad time to open one though.
What ever happened to Mary's/Safari?
