Eh. The fools who voted for prop 8 and others like it will fall on the wrong side of history, as they always do, soon enough. Just not this election.
Democracy moves slowly when it comes to civil rights, but eventually they will do the right thing.

Re: straight edge
Yeah I actually registered so I could just post in this thread. You caught me. You are making assumptions about me as well because I like hardcore. Stating that just because I don't like Yo La Tengo I don't like diverse music is idiotic and "juvenile" as well. So defensive. I just said th...

Re: straight edge
Yeah ok. Let me break it down for your reactionary asses. My point is that loud and fast AND slow and simple are both exciting in different ways and that pointing out that I listen to one particular band that is generally mellow has no bearing on my ability to criticize music that isn't. I listen to...

Re: straight edge
Someone who listens to Yo La Tengo is telling me what is "boring". Clearly you have the words good music confused with complete shit. check and mate loud and fast (and especially loud and slow) does not automatically equal exciting but go on, enjoy your juvenile singular definition of wha...

Re: straight edge
So many good straight edge bands in the 80s and the 90s. How the fuck can you say Youth of Today played rehashed material, they fucking revitalized the whole straight edge movement on the East Coast. Though I'm sure they care what some turd from Iowa has to say. No one here is impressed that you're...

Re: straight edge
I don't really count Minor Threat as a straightedge band, but some people make that stretch, and I like them. I also like Gorilla Biscuits. Just about every other straightedge band I have heard has been awful, but then again... I have no interest in hardcore as a genre.

Re: liberal outrage
At face value it's not crazy to suspect that Obama is muslim because of his name. But at this point, if you are paying any attention to the race at all you know that Obama is a Christian. The information is out there, and everybody knows. Refusal to acknowledge it speaks more about one's own paranoi...

uh yeah. that's like waving a gay pride flag at a rodeo (of the non-gay variety. err. Re: How did servo get into the debate?
My roommates (who obv have no idea who Servo is) were commenting on that guy throughout the debate, too.
I was hoping that he would have a chance to ask about 'stache reform, or how the candidates feel about social programs promoting a positive social perception of mustaches.

Re: Religulous
I saw a Maher interview a few days ago and I believe he specified that he wasn't out to attack the general idea of a god or a creator, but the notion that organized religion has the answer to who this creator is, or that they act on its behalf. The idea of a god or higher power can be completely sep...

the shape of the place is awful. way too narrow. the bar is too small for the capacity... it's practically impossible to get a drink sometimes if you don't know the bartenders. it has the best selection of music that Des Moines has ever had, but the layout just doesn't work very well. double the wid...
