Re: HotChicksWithDouchebags.com

Liar's Club. haha. I checked that shit out in January and I'm STILL laughing. What is with these Dragon Ball Z-haired dudes? I saw a ton of them this weekend. It's like they just sprouted out of nowhere. I hope they haven't overrun Des Moines yet. I actually used to really dig DBZ.. but I would rat...

Re: Iowa Money, yo

Another problem with booking hip hop acts from anywhere but Des Moines, and maybe Iowa City, is that they're unequivocally bad. Very true... but I am more so talking about booking our shows outside the state. I get a lot of email responses... "iowa hip hop??? no thanks" For the most part ...

Re: Iowa Money, yo

A lot of the smaller towns in iowa are scared to book hip hop shows. Cause they are still living with that stereotype bullshit where every rap show is going to bring guns and drugs. 5 or 6 years ago it was nearly impossible to book a show even in des moines because of places like crossroads and some...

Re: Iowa Money, yo

Generally people in other cities in Iowa see Des Moines as some big city... so they feel like they are really doing it if they are doing shows here.

And this is especially for iowa hip hop artists.

Re: 08/08/08 Krush Groovin'

Touchnice actually plays more of the mash up style of stuff on his own. Basically, if it mixes, he puts it together. JFresh, is a friend of touchnice's and I think this is his first show. He plays mostly old school/early 90's hip hop stuff. Timebomb actually doesn't laptop dj anymore. He advanced to...

Kansas City.. Digging Opportunity

For those of you interested in records. I have already been there once, and don't have the money to get back this week like I wanted to. Definitely worth checking out though.

Arts the Beatdoctor - Progressions EP

Beats Broke is sort of becoming Central Standard's Sister label. They are based out of Austin, TX but almost their entire roster is from Holland. They make some really good beats and I am incredibly jealous of their record collections. Take a moment, check them out, and maybe support this 2x7" ...
