Re: Sammy Kay Back In Des Moines

The Real Action are pretty good, too. Tim from Delstars and The Street Urchins. Garage-ish rock stuff. Also, No Good Deed which are pretty similar. Sammy Kay is just good. Well written songs and a great voice that sounds like he gargles scotch and shards of metal daily. http://www.purevolume.com/new...

Remember the Taco Loco wagon? Well, that dude has moved on up to the Eastside, to that delux apartment in the sky-high and got himself an actual restaurant where Top's Steak House used to be on 2nd & University. The burritos are most enchanting. Top's Closed. That kind of suck but then again I ...

Italian Killer is one of the best sandwiches, ever! Dad's Killer, also bomb! Baratta's has a great Capicola sandwich. Manhattan makes some good stuff, too! Jimmy John's is like a subway or Quizno's, if you can't get anything else, it will do. Palmer's sucks old stuck-up rich person balls. Except the...

Re: Mad TV vs. Mind of Mencia

If I'm flipping channels and I even see Carlos Mencia, my blood pressure goes up. He's so completely not funny. Him and Frank Caliendo are running neck and neck for the biggest attrocity of a comedy gone wrong. I only hope that Carlos meets his maker by a big mentally challenged guy that beats him j...

Re: Would you support a new Venue

I don't think there's a 100% guarantee with anything anybody ever does. I'm so over this. Its never going to happen. Unfortunately, I feel like this thought process is the dominant one in Des Moines. On the other hand, I would love to see this happen. HOB pretty much sucks, Mews has it's drawbacks ...

well, the ramsey county sheriff's dept showed it's true colors this week, in what will likely lead to a very high profile court case and a hefty lawsuit for the city to deal with. because hurricane gustav fucked up the republicans RNC schedule, the strategy against it too, had to change at the last...

A couple things, unless it happened recently, Gannett doesn't own Cityview. Cityview and Pointblank, for all intents and purposes merged together, however Pointblank people bought Cityview, or something like that. Anyway, second, I find it pretty hard to believe that there are police involved shooti...

I've been there a couple times for work. It is pretty cool, I was really impressed with how much these apes have learned and communicate. I'm not exactly sure what all the tour entails, but if I remember correctly, they have a seating area outside the main area where they keep kanzi and izzy or whic...

Re: Brass Knuckle Boys on St Paddys day! TONIGHT!

My favorite parts of the night, besides the music, which was all really good, was the Matt Mutt Slippery Shoe Extravaganza . Also, the mysterious white liquid dripping from the ceiling which added to the slick shoes. All in all, it was a great show. That place needs a little better beer selection an...
